Believers Baptism

The New Testament clearly teaches that new disciples were baptised in water by immersion as part of their response of faith in Jesus and a change of life.

After they had been baptised, they joined the fellowship of the local church. As a local church, we seek to practice the same pattern, and so encourage all who come in faith to obey Jesus’ command. 

Here at West Malling Baptist Church we practice Believers Baptism by immersion. However we do recognise that there are different views on baptism held within the Christian church. Therefore there may be occasions when this pattern may not be followed to the letter, for example when Christian believers join us from other church traditions. 

We regard the unity of Christians as more important than differences about baptism and therefore accept all fellow Christians into the membership of this church.
