ROPE in Malling Our second year of operation from July 2006 to June 2007 was another very successful year. A budget was set to raise £4,000 but due to the generosity of our supporters in WMBC and sister churches in the area £7,333 was raised. This enabled us to support MIVED in Peru at an increased level of £2,400, to provide further support of £2,900 to the community in Worcester South Africa in their irrigation project, and to help impoverished widows in Cameroon with £1,000. We were also able to fund 2 small projects to help farmers in Zambia and make a further 2 one off grants to widows in Cameroon.
For the year to June 2008 a budget of £7,500 has been set, being £3,000 for MIVED in Peru, £2,000 for the widows in Cameroon and £2,500 for a project in Chad to train and educate young people. By the end of December 2007 £4,085 had been raised, a little ahead of budget.
In November Michael Wood (the founder of ROPE) took a morning service at WMBC and an appeal was made to help 2 widows with a Christmas gift in response to a request from our Ropeholder in Cameroon. £138 was given that morning and we recently heard what a blessing it had been
